The Chinese translation of Buddhist texts rendered 'Sapta Koti Buddha' (7 Supreme Buddhas) as '7 Crore Buddhas.' The Tibetan translation got it right: 7 types, not 7 crore. One Sanskrit word, misread across two major world religions, generated two identical misconceptions independently.
